The Snazzy Boys -Organized Octopus 7"- (Rijapov Records)
Not much to say about this one, except "Fuck yeah!" The Snazzy Boys from Italy are total '77 revivalists, with a bouncy pogo punk sound redolent of the first Briefs album. Clearly inspired by the poppy side of the '70s punk explosion (Dickies, The Boys, Generation X, et al), these four Italian lads felicitously represent for the sunglasses-and-striped-shirts brotherhood. "Organized Octopus" is exemplarily high energy goofball punk, while "Cola Cola" is a dizzying speedball affair (blink, and you'll miss it!). Coming on with a more rockin' edge is "Punk-Rock Girls", which suggests The Vibrators on amphetamines. And That's that. Boom, boom, boom, and you're flipping the record and starting all over. These days I don't hear as much straight-up '77 punk as I used to, so the Snazzy Boys inhabit a soft spot in my heart. They attack the style with gusto and glee, and an uncontainable air of fun at all costs.
I cant wait to hear a full-length!
